Dawson: Defensive disruption no excuse

Left-back Andy Dawson admits the Hull defence has been unsettled this season but is not looking for excuses for the club's poor form.

Hull are 19th in the Barclays Premier League and have the worst defensive record in the competition having conceded 19 goals in seven games.

The back line of last season has been broken up with Michael Turner and Sam Ricketts leaving while Anthony Gardner has been unable to feature regularly due to injuries.

With Kamil Zayatte short of form, manager Phil Brown fielded youngster Liam Cooper at Liverpool last week, while new signing Ibrahima Sonko is still to settle.

But Dawson said: "It is part and parcel of football - the success that we have had, lads move on. Obviously Turns has gone for big money and Sam has moved on, and Anthony Gardner has got injured at a bad time, which is unfortunate for him and unfortunate for us because he was playing really well.

"It is not ideal but all clubs have it and it is something you have got to live and learn from."

  1. john cooper-- For goodness sake don't give the lazy bleeder a kick up the backside----He'd be out for another 2 months. Typical glassback no commitment player. Sonko is an embarrassment and was shown up for just how poor he is at Liverpool.
It was lunacy to sell Turner and the only logical explanation is that the company that owns Hull City are in financial trouble. Turner is playing fantastic football for Sunderland who must be laughing at the Tigers management.
