Blyth on top in Belgium
Briton Andy Blyth won stage one of the Circuit Franco-Belge to take the overall lead.
Milram's Gerald Ciolek was second while Kristof Goddaert (AG2R La Mondiale) came third.
Omega Pharma-Lotto rider Blyth led the peloton's fightback after a four-man breakaway seemed to have set up the finale of the 187.3km race between Templeuve, France, and Bouscron, Belgium.
Dane Jakob Fuglsang (Saxo Bank), Italian Marco Marcato (Vacansoleil), Frenchman Damien Gaudien (Bbox) and Belgian Dieter Cappelle (Verandas Willems) escaped at 58km and built up a lead of five minutes before the chasing pack caught them with 5km left.
The second stage of the Circuit Franco-Belge runs through Belgium on Friday, an 181.5km ride from Lessines to Poperinge, including a category-one climb.
