Championship - Middlesbrough sign Bent

Eurosport - Fri, 30 Oct 16:01:00 2009

Middlesbrough have signed striker Marcus Bent on a two-month emergency loan deal from Birmingham.

Marcus Bent, Birmingham FC. 09/10 - 0

Bent has yet to feature for the Blues this season having been kept on the sidelines due to a recurring hamstring injury.

And Birmingham manager Alex McLeish is hoping that both the club and player benefit from the loan.

He told the club's official website: "Going up there for two months is an opportunity for him.

"When it's time for him to come back he'll hopefully be in great form and pushing for a place in the team.

"He's obviously had one or two setbacks with injuries, but he's a big, strong centre forward with pace, presence and when he's on top form he's an asset."

  2. One fan has posted the name Flethcer. I don't think that means 'Birmingham fans' somehow. We will go abroad for our players no doubt and hopefully get a few players who are as good as Chucho is proving to be. I'd chose him over Fletcher in my team given the choice

  3. If Birmingham fans seriously think that they have the power to buy players such as Darren Fletcher, they really have gone mad! The main attractiveness is influence of a club, Birmingham are on the way down if they don't spend.

  4. Agree with post 2. One of the worst centre forwards I have seen down the Blues...and there's been a few lol!!!! I get the feeling he's more concerned with his body than his football!

  7. Based on his introductory speech, that means only 24 more replacements required in the winter signing period to 'upgrade' the team (that would kick the pi$$ out of any Celtic team he ever had) that he inherited languishing in the bottom of the Championship top 4.
