Fran Merida scored a cracker in midweek and the effort has caught the eye of a club in Spain, but which one?
Merida's cracker has thrust him into the spotlight and The Sun claims he is a transfer target for Atletico Madrid.
"He is a player that interests us for next season," says Atletico supremo Enrique Cerezo. The Sun claims Merida will be a free agent in the summer, so what price a new deal being signed in the next couple of weeks?
The Daily Express and the Daily Star are not exactly the Kauto Star and Denman of the newspaper world, but they are from the same stable so it's something of a surprise that they are not singing from the same hymn sheet on the Phil Brown situation.
'Two games to save his job', says the Star, 'Hull must beat Burnley or face the sack', states the Daily Express.
The Daily Mail has a different take, it says Brown will go even if they beat Burnley at the weekend.
It's been a tough week for Brown and it could be that not even a bit of pre-game karaoke may save his job, but they all can't be right.
Matthew Dunn in the Daily Express has done a bit of digging and found a different line on the Brown affair. Sky Sports News' famed yellow breaking news bar suggested Brown had left Hull late on Wednesday evening. The 'Sky source' was at it again, with the channel later claiming that the rumour had snowballed following reports on social networking sites.
Credit to Dunn, who has revealed that 'FootballAndy' posted on Twitter "Think Brown has left Hull - to be confirmed though". FootballAndy is none other than Sky Sports News' very own Andy Burton. I'll leave you to draw your own conclusions.
Another day, another Fergie rant. It's the FA feeling the power of the Scot's tongue this time as he has taken issue with the timing of England's friendly with Brazil next month.
If anyone at the FA is considering quitting because of Fergie's rant, they could do worse than talk to Keith Hackett. Brian Woolnough has revealed in his column in The Star that Alan Wiley offered to resign after Ferguson claimed he was not fit enough, but was talked out of it by referees' chief Hackett.
It could be all-change at Manchester United if the Daily Mail are to be believed. The paper says Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is plotting a summer swoop for Rio Ferdinand, while it claims United are looking at Everton's teen star Jack Rodwell.
The Mail is suggesting that Liverpool are fearful captain and talisman Steven Gerrard may require a groin operation.
It's the north London derby this weekend and Spurs boss Redknapp has revealed in his column in The Sun that David Bentley will start the game.

yip u got some hate in u man, chelsea spent hundreds millions and are still boring thugs. if i were u i wouldn t pay a penny or waste a minute watching lampard the guy needs 3,4 touches to control the ball.u got tow good players peter c and deco, and maybe cost yr team as much as the hole arsenal squad.chill out man
the kids done nothing yet. simple as that. and athletico were looking at him before mid week so stop trying to hype up a player because he plays in the premiership. this is typical english media. if he goes to spain you will hear no more about him and he wont get any praise but if he stays with arsenal it'll be constant next big thing talk.
marcheda scored 1 goal last season and all of a sudden he was world class, now he doesnt play this season and utd wannt go out and buy more forwards already after signing 1 in the summer.
people praise these young players, especially for arsenal, way too quick. the team arsenal puts out for the carling cup play together for reserves and stuff weekly where as the other clubs put in squad players and youngsters mixed who have never played together so its not hard for them to look like a decent team the second 1 or 2 of them join the 1st team they look like nothing.
go on tell me how many of these players Ive been hearing about for 5 years now are arsenal 1st team regulars. none! fabragas was young and now plays. thats it really. your main players were all signed for millions and its taken an 18 million forward and a 10 million defender to make you even look like a team with any kind of hope. and while im talking about arsenal, vaermelan is getting praise for goal even though he is a defender, this is what started the hype with vidic couple seasons ago and it annoyed me. even if he scores 100 goals a season doesnt make him a good defender
one goal he scored.... yes it was a good one but. just one goal he scored
wenger will not let him go
the fact merida scored wasnt becoz he is a good player, its becoz liverpool where defending badly!!
Is Merida a good player?
Yes(thumbs up)
No(thumbs down)
