Silent protest by Moyes

David Moyes revealed his decision to not speak to the media after Everton's Carling Cup defeat to Tottenham was the only way he could make his feelings clear about fixture congestion.

Moyes did not attend the press conference at White Hart Lane after Everton's 2-0 defeat there on Tuesday, a fixture which was the team's third away match - and defeat - in six days.

With the Toffees having played at Bolton on Sunday, Moyes felt it was unfair that his players were not allowed the same recovery period as their opponents, who played Stoke on Saturday.

"It would have given us an opportunity to recover the players," said Moyes. "That's the normal sort of thing you might do, play Saturday then Tuesday or Sunday then Wednesday.

"That would be the normal recovery time for most teams to make it relatively fair - and it wasn't fair. Tottenham had the chance to play on Saturday and we had to play on Sunday and then Tuesday.

"People have said that I'm whingeing about it - I hope I'm not. When I tried not to talk about it, it wasn't to affect the media in any way. It was my only chance to put over a point which wasn't getting heard by the people who were organising the tournament."

  1. I totally agree as well with Moyes, he done the best thing, why should we be treated like some second rate team, good for him, perhaps we will start getting treated fairly someday, we cant keep letting the so called "big four" treat us like doormats which is whats going on now.Keep up the good work Moyes, w will get there.

  2. moyes you are not alone in thinking this fixture list is designed to help the more fasionable teams like the big 4 and now moneybags city, they dont want teams like everton and villa doing to well because the revenue isnt great when they make all the news, on the other hand i bet moyes will be pulling his hair out when he gets all his injured star players back not knowing who 2 pick first, list is good arteta, neville, jagelka, osman, anichibe plus the list of not fully fit players billy, baines, yobo, yakubu, pienaar bet he cant wait and as a everton fan i cant great things are not far away

  3. I totally agree with Moyes on that it was unfair and 3 away games too in 6 days! bet the players feet never had a chance to rest! No wonder we have hardly any fit players. You keep up the good work Moyes all you can do is do your best for us. And in my opinion your not whinging your just stating the facts if it was the big 4 clubs bet the organiser would of jumped up and change the date's in an instant!
