Brunt has respect for Owls

West Brom midfielder Chris Brunt revealed he refused to celebrate his goal against Sheffield Wednesday out of respect for his former club.

The Northern Ireland international, who rifled home West Brom's last goal in a 4-0 romp, will be forever grateful for the time he spent at Hillsborough following his release from Middlesbrough in 2004.

Brunt said: "Not celebrating my goal was out of respect for Sheffield Wednesday.

"I enjoyed my time there and I was delighted with the reception I received from all four sides.

"I appreciate that Sheffield Wednesday gave me my foothold in football and I loved my time there so I have a lot of things to be grateful to them for."
