Somma keen to make impact

Davide Somma is itching to get his loan spell at Chesterfield under way when Crewe visit Saltergate.

The South African striker joined the Spireites from Leeds last week and is set to remain with the League Two club until January 2.

Chesterfield did not have a fixture at the weekend due to their first-round exit from the FA Cup, so the first game of Somma's spell will be the home game against Crewe on Wednesday night.

He told the club's official website: "I can't wait to get started. Chesterfield are going for promotion and my aim is to get some games and score some goals.

"I am a striker. I am quick and can hold on to the ball. Hopefully I will score some goals here.

"I started playing wide on the left but I feel comfortable in any attacking position."
