Keith Downing felt his Cheltenham side "matched Tranmere for long periods" in Saturday's 1-0 away defeat but paid for a lapse in concentration.A Calvin Zola goal after an hour was enough to give Rovers their second Prenton Park victory in four days and take them to the edge of the League One play-off zone.
Downing said: "I asked for a strong performance especially after Boxing Day. We matched Tranmere for long periods and gave as good as we got. It was a fine dividing line.
"It was a disappointing goal that we gave away. We lost our concentration and were punished after defending really well for most of the 90 minutes.
"I thought we started really well in the second half when we looked more of a threat. I thought maybe we were going to be the side to nick something but it wouldn't happen for us.
"We gave opportunities to several players and they came up with positive performances. The next seven games will be massive for us and I will have to look at bringing in players next month to try to help us retain our place in the division."
