Mark Stimson hailed his Gillingham side after they upset the formbook to surprise high-flying visitors Nottingham Forest 3-0 on Saturday.Second-half goals from Gary Mulligan, Adam Miller and substitute Leroy Griffiths lifted the Gills six points clear of the League One drop zone and Stimson - who joined from Conference outfit Stevenage in November - insisted the Priestfield faithful would not have witnessed many better performances in 2007.
"It's a great way to finish the year - I've not been here that long but I bet the fans haven't seen any better performances than that in the last 12 months," Stimson said.
"It was a fantastic performance from every player that took part - it wasn't just hard work, we showed real quality. There was some really good build-up play for the goals and the technique from Leroy for the third was great.
"The best form of defence is attack and when you are on a roll you might as well go for four or five and that's what we tried to do.
"We were beaten 4-0 by Forest earlier in the season but we've turned that around. I'm sure a lot of people were expecting a Forest 3-0 but anything can happen if you've got belief and we had that."
