Davies Ruling Nothing Out

Sun 30 Dec, 12:09 PM

Former Derby manager Billy Davies is "open-minded" about his next footballing challenge but insists he is in no rush to return to the game.

Davies, who led the Rams to the Barclays Premier League last season, has been linked with the Scotland national post since leaving Pride Park in November.

But Davies intends to take his time to wait for the right opportunity, which may even be abroad.

The 43-year-old, who also had a successful stint at Preston, told BBC Radio Five Live: "I'm certainly not one for taking a long rest and if the right thing comes along I will get back on the bike very quickly.

"But at the moment I am enjoying the break with the family and will see what 2008 brings.

"I am prepared to travel to take on new challenges and start new chapters. I am very open-minded with regard to where the next chapter will begin."

Davies also offered encouragement to Derby, who are now 10 points adrift of safety in the Premier League and seemingly heading back to the Coca-Cola Championship.

He added: "As time goes on they will get more comfortable and confident. They are a fantastic group of players and when people give their best there is no more you can ask for."
