Shaun Murphy said he is now content with his career achievements after adding the UK Championship to the World Championship he won in 2005.
Murphy took the UK title in Telford after a dramatic 10-9 victory over Marco Fu in the final on Sunday night to complete a remarkable turnaround in form from the Englishman.
Before the tournament Murphy had not won a match in a ranking event all season but he has now joined an elite group of players who have won the sport's two biggest events.
"No matter what happens in the rest of my life now, I've won the world title and the UK Championship, the two biggest tournaments in the sport," he said.
"Hopefully I've got more and more tournaments left in me in the years to come. But if I don't, I'll die happy.
"This is something I dreamed about as a child, to win this tournament and get my name on this trophy.
"No amount of money can buy you that name on that trophy."
As a result of the victory Murphy moves back up to number three in the provisional rankings while Fu enjoyed a big jump up to sixth.
Two-time world champion Mark Williams also looks in good shape to return to the top 16 with his quarter-final run moving him up to 12th.

talk about ugly... its a close thing betwen the fat darts slobs and the fat snooker slobs
snooker is totally @#$% thye should be able to shoult and cheer when a player is about to take a shot it would make it better and harder for them can u think of what ut would be liek at football with out any cheering...boringlol
Well done Shaun, well deserved.
snooker ie rubbish
who cares snooker ie rubbish football is the best
ohh go murphy !!! :D:D fu was good too!
Delighted Shaun won and it was well-deserved. He is not only a great snooker player, but a good sportsman, too.
I was really pleased that Murph ended up the winner, I know Fu probably was unaware of the foul he made on the green but if the ref had seen it & called the miss the outcome could have been much more of a decivive win in the final frame, rather than the nail biter it turned out to be. Justice prevailed & Shaun was the deserved winner.
the sport has hardly no personalities now..so its just plain ol' snooker...its going downhill and has been for some time....shawn murphy...like so what....oh yes their just as good as the old guard were but their as stale as two pieces of stale bread in a stale tin jar..lol
He won 10-9 not 9-8
