Thu 31 Jan, 06:45 PM

Leicester have signed defender Jamie Clapham from Championship rivals on a short-term contract until the end of the season. The 32-year-old becomes the seventh new arrival at the Walkers Stadium this month, subject to approval by the Football League.

Left-back Clapham trained with the Foxes squad on Thursday and will go straight into Ian Holloway's squad for the Championship game at Blackpool.

"Jamie is a player who I have had before. I had him on loan when I was at Bristol Rovers and he was a youngster at Tottenham. He did very well for me then and helped us stay up," said Holloway. "He is now a senior professional who knows what he is doing.

"We have got two relatively inexperienced left-backs at the club and I think it is difficult for them considering where we are in the table.

"I have been very upfront with Jamie. He wants to earn a longer contract and he has got from now until the end of the season to do that."
