Notts County's hopes of signing Shrewsbury striker Andy Cooke have been dashed after the deal hit a late hitch on Thursday. The 34-year-old arrived at Meadow Lane for talks on Thursday morning and underwent a medical at lunchtime.
He was expected to sign a short-term contract until the end of the season, but the move has fallen through.
County assistant manager Dave Kevan told the club's official website: "We can confirm that we had Andy in for talks, but the transfer will not be happening now. We would like to wish Andy all the best."
Kevan also confirmed that defender Guy Branston has been released following the conclusion of his one-month contract.
