Stoke manager Tony Pulis has re-signed striker Paul Gallagher on loan until the end of the season from Premier League side Blackburn. The 23-year-old spent the 2005-06 campaign on loan at the Britannia Stadium and scored 12 goals.

Gallagher, who has spent the majority of this season out on loan at Preston, will now go straight into the squad to face Cardiff this weekend.

"He is an absolutely fantastic signing. He has good quality and is very different to what we already have," said boss Tony Pulis.

"We know him from last time he was here and we know he can score goals."

Youngster Adam Rooney, meanwhile, has rejoined Stoke from Chesterfield after his loan spell with the League Two side expired. He has scored seven goals for the Spireites.
