Serie A top scorer David Trezeguet has failed to make it into the France squad for next week's friendly matches against DR Congo and Spain. The Juventus striker has scored 15 goals in the Italian top flight this season, but he remains out of favour for his country and is not one of the nine attackers named by coach Raymond Domenech.
Three players - Marseille goalkeeper Steve Mandanda, Arsenal left-back Gael Clichy and Monaco forward Jeremy Menez - are called up for the first time.
And there are returns for new Lyon signing Jean-Alain Boumsong, in-form Marseille striker Djibril Cisse and fit-again duo Patrick Vieira, the Les Bleus captain, and Willy Sagnol.
France will play DR Congo on Tuesday in an 'A' international and Spain in Malaga the following night in a full international.
Trezeguet's chances of making Domenech's 23-man Euro 2008 squad now appear all but over, although the France coach is not closing the door on any player with the tournament four months away.
"I know David's qualities but I have made my choice," said Domenech.
"If I decide to change the structure of the France team, he will again be a candidate. We will see how things go, but this is my squad."
Of the three first-time call-ups, Domenech added: "Each year with their clubs, they are show they have the capacity to play at this high level."
There is no place for attacking midfielder Mathieu Valbuena, who was expected to be included after impressing for Marseille over the past few months.
