Uchiyama, Shimoda win title fights
Takashi Uchiyama had to get up off the floor to defend his WBA super-feather championship belt and his unbeaten record against fellow Japanese fighter Takashi Miura in Tokyo.
Uchiyama(17-0, 14 KOs) was knocked down in the third but then started to pick off Miura (20-2-2, 16 KOs) before finally winning the fight in the eight round.
The referee stopped the fight after a series of left hooks left Miura unable to see out of his left eye
Uchiyama won his title with a 12th round knockout of Juan Carlos Salgado just over a year ago.
On the same card, challenger Akifumi Shimoda won the WBA super-bantamweight title†by beating Ryol Li Lee in another all Japanese contest.
Lee was on the canvas three times during the bout and the judges gave the fight to Shimoda 115-111, 118-109, 118-109†on the scorecards.
