Orient lose their skipper

Leyton Orient captain Stephen Dawson has joined npower Championship club Barnsley.

The O's confirmed they have accepted a six-figure offer from the Tykes for their skipper.

Midfielder Dawson featured 75 times for Orient but his contract was due to expire at the end of this campaign.

Manager Russell Slade told their official website: "We did everything in our power for Stephen to stay and he was offered an excellent deal.

"He has been a very influential player for us and we didn't want to lose him.

"From my point of view it's imperative that we build a squad around players who want to be here and who want to wear the shirt."
