Matt Tubbs admitted it was a tough decision to leave Crawley after completing his move to Bournemouth.
The striker, who has joined his hometown club for an undisclosed fee, signed off with his 58th goal in 80 games for Crawley against Hull in the FA Cup on Saturday.
"It was tough in a sense leaving Crawley," he told Press Association Sport. "I've got a lot of friends down there and they've got a great management team there and the fans have been unbelievable to me.
"But when a club like Bournemouth comes in for you it's a great opportunity and I'm looking forward to going on further with them.
"We had some great times in the FA Cup and we played against some higher-standard teams but now I'm really looking forward to what's to come.
"It was a bit emotional leaving the pitch after the game with so many fans there who had made the journey north. I can only wish the best for Crawley and hope they get promoted - and I think they will."
