Black Cats head for Spanish sun

Mon 31 Mar, 12:30 PM

Sunderland manager Roy Keane has taken his squad to Spain for a short training camp in a bid to escape the British weather.Keane admitted the recent spell of strong winds in the north-east had made it difficult to train properly and is hoping a few days away will be the perfect preparation for his side's bid to beat relegation from the Premier League.

Following Saturday's crucial 2-1 win over West Ham at the Stadium of Light, the Black Cats squad will stay in the south of Spain until Wednesday ahead of Saturday's trip to second-bottom Fulham.

"The wind we've had recently has been unbelievable and it's made training difficult - a few days away will do them good," Keane told the club's official website.

"We've some big games coming up and hopefully this will prepare us well.

"We'll be having double sessions on Monday and Tuesday so it's no break for the players."
