McCarthy thrilled with striker impact

Mon 31 Mar, 08:00 PM

Wolves manager Mick McCarthy believes his side have "hit the jackpot" by signing in-form striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake.The former Manchester United trainee has notched nine goals in 14 games since joining from Plymouth in January, and McCarthy believes the 22-year-old has exceeded all expectations at Molineux.

McCarthy told the Express and Star: "Did I expect that sort of impact from Sylvan this quickly? No, did I heck. I expected him to play and to score goals.

"But he's even better than we thought he'd be because of the amount of goals he's scored.

"I hoped he was going to score but I'm not sure I expected seven in seven and nine in 14 games.

"We've got a good player in Sylvan. It's nice when you hit the jackpot, but it doesn't always happen. He's quick, powerful and he wants to score goals and he's hungry to score."
