Southampton goalkeeper Richard Wright insists there is a growing belief at the club that Nigel Pearson's side can avoid relegation. The Saints will slump into the bottom three if Sheffield Wednesday take anything from Tuesday's home clash with Coventry, but Wright insists the Saints squad are positive they can pick up enough points to clinch safety, starting with Saturday's visit of Bristol City.
He told the club's official website: "I'm looking forward to the next game. It is a cliche but it is all about the next game. I think as a club at the moment we just have to be positive and prepare for Bristol City next Saturday.
"There is a great bunch of lads here and there is a great belief that we can do it and we are working as hard as we can.
"I believe at the moment it is all about what we do as a club and we have to go ahead and get the results that we need. We can't worry about anyone else. We have to make sure we do our job on the park on Saturday.
"There are 15 points to play for and every one of them will be vital. It is as simple as that. There is no hiding from that at all. So we have to make sure we go out and win the next game."
