Shakes bemoans home pressure

Mon 31 Mar, 08:45 PM

Brentford winger Ricky Shakes has admitted that the Bees need to "treat every game as an away game" after another damaging home result.Andy Scott's side have won nine games on the road but any lingering hopes of securing a play-off place were badly damaged by Saturday's 2-0 defeat at home to Rochdale.

Shakes said: "Away from home, you feel like you have nothing to lose. There isn't that expectation to win.

"At home, you are more aware of trying to do your best for the fans. You can tense up as a result and don't play your normal game.

"We have almost got to start treating each game as an away game, and try to express ourselves as if there is no expectation.

"You want to make the fans happy, but that can just add more pressure and we need to make sure we play our natural game."
