Cesc Fabregas has confirmed receiving an approach from former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon, but says he never wanted to leave Arsenal.
Fabregas has come on leaps and bounds during his time in North London to become one of the best, and most sought-after, midfielders in European football.
The 21-year-old, who is contracted to Arsenal until 2014, has been persistently linked with a return home with Real Madrid and Barcelona keen to acquire his services.
However, Fabregas insists he has never assured Calderon that he would join Real nor did he express any desire to leave The Gunners.
"It's true the president of Real Madrid called me personally - we spoke on the phone," Fabregas said in El Mundo.
"But I never gave him my word that I was going to sign for Real Madrid. He asked about my progress and that was it.
"I have not given him nor anyone else the expectation that I will join them. The same goes for anyone who represents me.
"I am a person of my work and I can assure you that I have never given any club reason to believe that I would leave Arsenal.
"Nobody can say that they have agreed with me that I become part of their project. That is clear.
"It is an incredible compliment that two of the most important clubs in the world are interested in you, but I am an Arsenal player and have a contract with them until 2014."

Let us wait and see. Arsenal can do without any of his big players. The influence of Arshavin will over-shadow Fabrecas in Arsenal next season.
That's good Skipper For Long Time Young Boy
i hope FAB stays n i believe he'll for another yr. then maybe he'll move
I love it when people who can't spell themselves tell other people they can't spell. I'm sure that donneysbeck is typing using his forehead.
i'm more concerened about my blues ....i want to put chelsea in order
Fabregas should go wherever he choses to though he is a talented midfielder .
arsene Wenger knows how he is doing with young players...
maybe he will sale fab. and use the money to buy a complete squad..mr,sense.
Arsenal go to hell.
cesc is the best midfielder and arsenal will be better with him
donneysbeck your not the sharpest tool in the box, knowone is interested in your stupid posts - go away
Real Madrid will not buy Fabregas FOREVER.Just stop dreaming!!!!!
well i guess as long as donneysbeck understands himself then thats all that counts. I guess he proves that inbreeding still goes on. At least they keep it in the family ;)
Anyway it would be a shame if he does go. And i am an arsenal fan, he's not world class but he is one of the best midfielders in the premier league and as he's only 21 he will be world class by the time he's 26. And as for this spitting incident, i really didn't realise spitting on the floor was a crime, as that is what he did.
donneysbeck=P.R.A.T
He is a @#$% ! If he tried gobbing at me, I would kick him square in the bo11ocks !
who wouldn't want to keep a player like Fabregas? any team in the prem would want him. he is class, and still very young.
A plea to Yahoo/Eurosport.
I think it is about time that you introduced the facility to block seeing comments from selected users. In being able to block the inane comments from certain users these boards would be far more 'enjoyable' to a large number of users.
Fabrephelgm should be banned from all competitions until the end of the season !
i think fab is pants anyway big fish in a small pond if you ask me
I dso wish you wouldn't print comments from the likes of donneysbeck, which are totally unreadable and incoherent.
As far as Fabrecas is concerned, I hope he stays, he is such a talented and influencial player. I have no doubt he has the highest regard for Arsenal and will continue to give of his best once he returns from injury. We need his flair and stability in midfield. However He WILL leave in time,(possibly 2 - 3 years) it is only to be expected. But the club needs to win something this year. FA Cup & Champions league are still within our grasp and we need his return & influence.
Donkeysback : Idti nak hoy, tvo mudrak :)
Anyway if Cesc does go we have plenty of players who can cover for him. For me I think Arshivan is even better at passing than Fab which is saying something! Fab hasn't had the best seasons until his injury and we're playing bloody well without him. Of course all us gooners want the guy to stay for as long as possible but it wouldn't be the end of the world. Plus we'd get about £40m for him!
With such a great denial he must be on his way
