Friendly Game - England Saxons have made one change to their starting line-up for the Churchill Cup final with New Zealand on Saturday, bringing in London Irish centre Nils Mordt after Nick Abendanon's call-up to the senior squad.

Saxons coach Jim Mallinder has shuffled his backs to accomodate Abendanon's departure, moving Wasps' Danny Cipriani to full-back and Bath's Olly Barkley to fly-half.

Abendanon flew out to South Africa after receiving an emergency call to join the senior England squad, which has been ravaged by a stomach virus and injury.

Mallinder had planned to name an unchanged side to the one that reached the final with an 18-3 victory over Scotland A in torrential conditions at Twickenham on Monday.

"I thought the way he (Abendanon) performed against Scotland A on Monday - and the form he's shown all season for Bath - would have put him in Brian's reckoning," Mallinder said.

"I'm really pleased his chance has come a little sooner than expected. This is exactly what England Saxons is all about.

"To help us build on Monday's performance we've tried to minimise the disruption to the back line.

"Danny has been playing full-back for his club since last December. He's very at home there, as his performance in the Heineken Cup final showed.

"Olly is a very experienced player and will comfortably slot in at 10."

With Mordt promoted into the starting XV Ayoola Erinle comes onto the bench.

Mallinder knows his side face a huge challenge against the defending Churchill Cup champions, who he says have strength in every position.

"The Maori will be a very tough side to play against. They are physical and tough up front but skilful and powerful from 1 to 22," added Mallinder.

"It will take a very good team performance to beat them. As well as matching them up front, we will need to improve considerably on several areas of our game as well as maintaining our emphasis on defence."

The Maori reached the final after a convincing 50-22 victory over Ireland A, which followed their opening 59-23 win over Canada.
