Turkish giants Fenerbahce claim to have agreed an undisclosed deal with Newcastle to take midfielder Emre Belozoglu back to Istanbul.A statement on the club's website read: "Fenerbahce have reached an agreement with Newcastle United in order to sign the Turkish superstar Emre Belozoglu and make him become a canary."
Newcastle have yet to comment although it would not be a surprise if he were to leave St James' Park.
No transfer fee has been mentioned but the Magpies are expected to value the midfielder in the £3.5million bracket.
The former Galatasaray and Inter Milan star has largely failed to shine on Tyneside after joining the Magpies in July 2005.
The 27-year-old came to prominence after helping Turkey to a third-place finish at the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea.
