Frank Lampard scored a stunning winner as Chelsea came from behind to beat Everton 2-1 and win the FA Cup final at Wembley.
Lampard fired home from 25 yards to give Chelsea their fifth FA Cup triumph and provide departing manager Guus Hiddink a glorious send-off.
Louis Saha struck with just 25 seconds on the clock to put Everton ahead, before Chelsea drew level through Didier Drogba's header midway through the first half.
Chelsea's superiority told in the second half and after Lampard struck, Hiddink's men should have been awarded a third goal when Florent Malouda's long-range effort hit the bar and went over the line.
Everton were making their first cup final appearance since 1997, but David Moyes's side came out of the blocks firing and could not have got off to better start in searing Wembley heat.
When Steven Pienaar found space on the left, his deflected ball was headed into the path of Saha by Marouane Fellaini.
Saha took his opportunity superbly, fizzing a volley past Petr Cech from just inside the box to give Everton a sensational lead, and in so doing record the fastest goal in FA Cup final history.
For a brief period Chelsea looked shell-shocked, but Hiddink's men soon gathered themselves and began to assert real pressure on the Everton goal.
On 13 minutes Drogba's persistence on the left led to a chance for Michael Essien, but he blazed his shot over the bar from 20 yards.
Everton were defending in numbers, but they could do nothing to stop Chelsea pulling level through Drogba on 21 minutes.
Nicolas Anelka started the move, drifting across from right to left before playing in Malouda on the touchline.
The impressive Malouda set himself, before curling in an inch-perfect cross that Drogba headed powerfully past Tim Howard to make it 1-1.
Chelsea continued to press, but in committing numbers forward always looked susceptible to the counter-attack.
Saha released Tim Cahill on the half-hour mark, but Cech was alert to the danger and just got there ahead of the Australian.
The final chance of the half fell to Chelsea's Ashley Cole, who got in behind Tony Hibbert, but fired well over the bar from a tight angle.
Chelsea came out for the second half in dominant mood.
On 59 minutes Malouda put Anelka through on goal, but the Frenchman's lob sailed over the bar with Howard beaten.
Everton struggled to create chances, and when Saha headed over from Leighton Baines's cross on 67 minutes, it proved their last genuine opening.
Five minutes later Chelsea found a winner, when Lampard twisted away from Phil Neville and shot left-footed past Howard from 25 yards.
Soon after Malouda's spectacular effort struck the underside of the bar and bounced out - only for replays to show the ball clearly crossed the line.
In the dying minutes Everton pressed hard for an equaliser, but it was Chelsea who continued to threaten - Anelka chipping over the bar after being sent through by Lampard.
Chelsea held on and deservedly claimed their first trophy for two years, in so doing handing man-of-the-match Cole a record fifth FA Cup winners' medal.

d.papas - I've been waiting for you to come back and say "Ooops - sorry Mary - I've made a bit of a prat of myself, and made myself look a bit foolish by saying that I had read ALL your posts when I obviously hadn't. Please accept my apologies for being unnecessarily rude to you - I can now see that you posted about the game yesterday, in #185 - I feel SO silly now!"
I didn't realise that you were the Message Board Taliban - I've got better things to do with my Sunday that be monitored by you. I'll leave you to throw your weight around with anyone else who dares to comment on "your" board. Perhaps you'll let us know when it will be ok to come back and start posting again?
Fair play mary, makes pretty good sense. Though i think you do Everton a disservice by calling their players journeymen. As far as i am aware their squad isn't really full of journeymen (a term generally used for players at end of their carers wanting a final pay day). Maybe SAHA could be termed that, somewhat harshly as only injuries blighted his career at UTD. All the rest are either young from youth set up, or expereinced pros. Cahill and Neville as the two prime example. Also, not to sure about the budget comment either. I mean, Yak wasn't exactly cheap, nor Jagielka. Thoughi agree hardly a budget befitting a team chasing Europe. Finally the game, I'd say SPOT ON! Guss knew what he was doing, maybe Everton were guilty of scroing too early! Silly as it sounds but it kinda angered chelski and but nervousness (hibbert)into their play early on.
P.S. Ignore my previous sexist comment, as i hadn't spotted comment 185 thought i'd have a dig in response to yours at me!
Evertons injury crisis finally caught up with them, they still made a game of it though
Really missed arteta and Jagielka to give some craft unluc
Typical as I look through the threads so many Chelsea haters complain about money won it... Chelsea's strength and resilience won the game. Liverpool empty, Arsenal empty and Man U walk away with two cups a mickey mouse one and premier league. Chelsea well deserved from a season that was a joke to being minutes away from a CL final says alot about players and Mr Hiddink and the game itself was great. May I remind you that Man U and Liverpool have equally splashed out to improve their squads
mary do you really look like that? Or are you a 40 year old hairy trucker on the wind up?
A warm round of applause to Chelsea, especially Lucky Gus. I wish there were more managers like him in the EPL, top class, great motivator. Didn't get to watch the game (a professional musician rarely gets to, I guess), but good show by Everton too, I heard. Still smarting from Manutd's loss, but Barca was really fantastic. I guess it's Ok to lose to a team you also admire so much. Nuff of that. Niweys, good luck Lucky Gus!
Well MARY, having been back through the messages i see that i had in fact read all your messages. Starting by slgging us immature men of for a bit of swearing and a few sexist comments. And poor old donney for boring you. I don't see one comment on football! To add to my previous list, i also wrote about evertons last win in the cup (football related) and to a greek about barcas history (football related). So i think i speak for most on here (football fans not the odd few on here just to @#$% (you included)) when i say, talk about the footy or go paint your bloody nails!
d.papas - Here you go, then. Here's my thoughts from yesterday's game, cut & pasted just for you. Will this be OK for you, or have you some more unpleasant and sarcastic things to say?
185 - Quite enjoyed the game this afternoon - Chelsea were by far the better team and deserved their victory. Well done to Everton for reaching the Final - they tried hard, but they are so limited and so predictable.
The heat of the afternoon effectively ended Everton's chances of winning - their hustle-bustle, physical, kick-and-rush style was just not possible, as they wouldn't have been able to come out for the second half. Kudos to Chelsea - they knew that Everton wouldn't be able to play the physical stuff in the heat, and just played neat passing football. Sadly, Everton had no answer to the passing game and just looked woefully short of ideas.
But considering their less-than-Championship budget and their team of journeymen and young hopefuls, I thought they deserved some praise for their achievments this season.
I'm impressed you looked through all 380 + comments! But if you paid attention to my final message, it ended thus "So what did you make of the game?" So i ask again, what did you think of the game? As maybe i'm just lazy but having seen ten of your posts i cant really be bothered to check all 380 in the hope that there may have been anything worthwile in there! As for my previous comments, i belive in one i congratulated chelsea on a good performance. One i said about everton missing the opportunity to close down lampard for the winner and one telling mike s to stop making sick remarks about lamps dead mother? or are they not valid comments?
d.papas - like you say, you've only just "logged on", and you therefore obviously haven't as yet read from the beginning of this thread, otherwise you would have seen my comments on the game. If you're having difficulty going back through the previous pages (hint: you click on "Next" at the bottom of the page) just let me know and I'll do a cut-and-paste for you.
Now - what was the point of YOUR message? I looked for YOUR football-related comments, but all I could see were some sarcastic jibes which I presume you were hoping would make you look witty to all the other posters here. Did you press "Submit comment" before you had finished your post? Is something missing?
Totally agree with you Mary. the worlds full of loons! take care gorgeous!
zrashid473 - in your dreams, you silly little boy. We ALL know that the next time you have sex will be your FIRST time. Now stop playing with yourself and go and get on with your homework, there's a good lad....
jimig333 - not 'mad', just SAD. There are some sad, sick wierdos here.
Mary, I mutst admit i've only just logged on. So haven't seen your infamous "porn pic" LOL! But what i will ask is this... What are the points of your messages? So far all you've done is moan! You haven't commented on the footy as far as i can see? So what did you make of the game?
mary, you no wot you need hun?a good seeing to.the way u go on hun is a sure sign you not getting enough.give me a shout id sort it for ye.
Mary....you shouldn,t let em make you mad.
I can die happy !! At last a decent FA Cup final thanks to that opening goal by the alleged underdogs forcing Chelsea to come out and then Everton to try and hold out. Good goals too !! Now if only England could win the world cup next year and Swindon win the Premiership I'd sell tickets to me funeral a month in advance !!
Footnote, re. Big Monkey's earlier posting. A little extreme I feel. Example: Poor old West Brom. are "not good enough", Bless Them. When you have achieved what Chelsea have achieved since, lets say 2005, and you are up there with the undoubted quality of Man U., Liverpool and Arsenal in the top five area, "not good enough" really does not apply to any of them! Enjoy a sunny Sunday.
I've changed it back to one that shows my streaky hair, pudgy nose and freckles - I hope that this will mean that you read the posts rather than looking at the pictures, like some sort of kids comic.
I really do wonder just how old (or should I say YOUNG) some of you "men" are sometimes. Perhaps this explains why some of you feel the need to end a post with "You smelly turd" - for goodness sake, that's the sort of thing little boys used to shout in the school playground...
Well done to both 'The Blues' for providing us with such an entertaining Final in such extremely hot conditions. 'The man in black' runs the game, and every tackle, free kick and penalty decision should not be second guessed by the technology. This would serve to stifle sporting competitiveness, and where would we go from there? However, the camera did not lie, and the ref got it wrong! Tim Howard, M.Malouda and the watching millions saw the ball cross the Everton line. 3-1 to Chelsea, and in the name of fair play and effort rewarded (Malouda was CFC. 'Man of The Match' for my money), this should become official. I don't think The Everton lads would complain.
sex on legs is mary
