The 2010 Giro d'Italia will start from Amsterdam, organisers confirmed at the last stage of this year's race in Rome.
The world's second biggest stage race after the Tour de France will stay in the Netherlands from May 6 to 10 next year, a statement said.
It will be the ninth time the Giro has started outside Italy.
The last occasion was in 2006 when it opened in Seraing, Belgium.

Helen,
How on earth can you honestly say that?
The success of the 2007 TDF opening prologue & first stage in England showed how much cycling means to the people of this country, people who would not normally be able to see the race.
I for one will find the time to see the opening stage of next years Giro in the Netherlands.
Radical. Can't see any reason why its a bad idea, It takes the Giro to an audience that wouldn't otherwise be able to see it live in the streets. The Dutch are pretty efficient, they're a nation of cyclists with many cycling fans. But, I guess there will have to be a rest day after the Dutch stages. It's going to be a long trip back to Italy with possible traffic delays especially through the Alps but I guess it's all been thought out.
How utterly stupid!
The TDF has lost its way and the Giro is going the same way
