Carlo Ancelotti confirmed his decision to leave AC Milan was made by "mutual consent" as he left the Rossoneri after almost eight years in charge.
He is widely expected to be confirmed as the new coach of Chelsea for next season, but he would not be drawn on where his future lies.
"Ir is not the day for that," he said. "I have had eight great years here and I want to thank everybody who has been with me over these years. That is all I can say."
Milan beat Fiorentina 2-0 today to clinch second place in Serie A, and automatic qualification for the Champions League group stage.
Ancelotti, 49, stated his departure was agreed after the final whistle.
He said: "It was decided by mutual consent after the game after we reached our minimum aim for this season.
"Our roads will separate next season."
Although Ancelotti could not confirm he will become the next coach of the Blues, he did at least reveal that he would not be joining another Serie A club.
"I am certainly not staying in Italy," he added. "But it is not certain that I am going to London for sure."

The Chelsea F.C. will be the luckiest club in England if they land Carlo Ancelotti as their coach. The Three Lions are a very good example in England, since the hiring of Fabio Capello the National Team of England is now on his way to South Africa and now of course almost everyone {with the exception of a few jealous English coaches}love Capello. In the UK there are few groups of English club followers who are unsophisticate low life morons, that behave stupid, childish, and of course many of these individuals are uneducated cretins. This phenomena of course is spread worldwide and I live in a country that is full of them, than the're groups of intelligent nature who are pure football lovers that know this great game and speak with knowledge and intelligence. I should know this because during the two years stay that I spent in England when I was a student attending the University at Cambridge as an exchage Fulbright winner. I say this again if Carlo Ancelotti comes to London he will win many international trophies for the Blues and he will be rewarded by the fans with gratitude and by the owner Roman with money. N.B. Carlo Ancelotti has a Curriculum Vitae that is better than the Spaniard Benitez and the Alsatian Wenger.
