Nottingham Forest have refused to comment on speculation that they are in talks with a Kuwaiti millionaire about a takeover of the club.
A report in the Kuwait Times claims that businessman Fawaz Al-Hasawi is close to a deal for Forest or npower Championship rivals Leeds.
Al-Hasawi resigned as chairman of Al-Qadsiya Sports Club this week.
A statement on Forest's official club website said: "The board of NFFC confirm that they are unable to respond to media speculation regarding the club's future ownership.
"The club sale process is being driven by the estate of Nigel Doughty and by Seymour Pierce as previously announced."
Forest have been for sale since October 2011 when Nigel Doughty resigned as chairman but his death in February has made any sale more complicated.

R.i.p forest no one wants you no one cares no one on the board botherd just as long as they get paid. Keep the fans wondering no news on a buyer who you think cares about this team the fans do so do us a favour and tell us what the f is going on.
You wonder why anyone would want to buy Forest. We don't own our own ground and have limited other assets. Our playing staff are not exactly great and the manager is yet to fully prove himself. Don't get me wrong I look at the web every day hoping for a new owner and ome good news in the frustrating life of a Forest fan. On day maybe...
you could cut the tension with a spoon.. the waiting for any announcement is getting to me... I just hope its good news. and then lets start to turn the club around, and aim to get back to the big time. I was lucky enough to be there for the first go at world domination, would be great to have another go , especially for all the younger supporters who have known hardly anything except heartbreak
Don't talk drivel Ibrar.
The economics of the British game are a mess. It's a mystery how clubs survive playing before stadiums that are half filled. Forest certainly have a history, nice stadium, and a devoted fan base, but one wonders how viable many of these teams really are these days. There are too many teams at too many levels playing a mediocre and talent-diluted game. Forest are no exception -- they scraped by and stayed up with some decent loan players, all of whom are gone and lost their best player McCleary to another team. It's hard to see Forest competing for promotion next year -- but maybe a rich oil sheikh can enable them to buy their way to respectability. It's another mystery to me -- all these British teams seem to have youth squads, but none of the players in these youth squads ever seem to make it onto the first team.
Forest Could compete with the Top 4 in the premier league. Why whoeer buys forest will get a immediate return on their 100 million 5 year plan in football terms thats a good investment 30 thousand seats massive support base attractive club 2 champions league titles few premier league 1st league titles (premier league equivalent). Fa cups other trophies. the cabinate aint empty but hasnt had any recent success either. if a kuwaiti bought forest then one things for sure the massive arab asian population will help increase the active fan base. and will help bring a change of management style. football is about promoting the club and players and creating success as it no longer can be attained natuarally. forest can buy a irish polish german arab asian player and this will help them with their fan base (you think fergie buys average japanese players just for their tallent nope wrong they bring with them a fan base which + money and that helps man u buy more and break even and create success Forest dont do any of this
Please buy Nottm Forest, & then bring back Billy Davies to get us back into the premier div. (Chris from Grantham)
Forest have to be an attractive buy - well-above average Champioship attendance and a rich history. Outside of the EPL, the local support has to be the key to survival. If an investor has the money, Forest would be a better buy than QPR. QPR is the sixth EPL team in a crowded London market - way behind Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea, Fulham, and West Ham. Loftus Road can hold 18,000 whereas the City Ground can hold 30,000. Obviously QPR gets mammoth amounts of TV money that Forest can only dream about but the upside has to be better at Nottingham. A two year plan that yields promotion would be a fantastic return on any investment.
