Boss still confident on Morrison

Thu 31 Jul, 12:30 PM

Coventry boss Chris Coleman remains committed to signing free agent Clinton Morrison despite the collapse of striker Michael Mifsud's transfer.Mifsud was set to join City after the clubs agreed a fee, but Robins boss Gary Johnson had a change of heart after meeting with the Malta international.

Coleman told the club website: "It's very unfortunate for all parties concerned that a deal could not be done between Bristol City and Michael Mifsud.

"But we have done our part in granting Michael's transfer request so now it's up to him. There is certainly no problemm between ourselves and Bristol City."

Coleman hopes to bring in Morrison and fellow trialist Stephen Wright, who left Sunderland this summer and played at right-back in the friendly draw with Livingston on Tuesday.

Coleman said: "The chairman (Ray Ranson) is coming up to Scotland on Thursday and we hope to sort out deals. We'd love to sign both of them and we're hopeful something can be done."
