Injury blow to Ipswich midfielder

Thu 31 Jul, 01:15 PM

Ipswich midfielder David Norris is set to miss the start of the season after suffering a fresh complaint to his problematic foot. The 27-year-old missed the last six weeks of the 2007/08 season with a heel injury and suffered a fresh heel injury in the pre-season friendly with Brentford.

Physio Matt Byard told the club's official website: "It's a completely new injury but it's in the same sort of area as before with inflammation around the heel.

"Having played no football for a few weeks he is obviously not going to be ready for Preston on August 9.

"We are not going to put a timescale on his return but he is being monitored every day.

"It's just a case of waiting until the heel bone settles down and then he'll be playing again very soon after that."
