Keogh eyes success with Sylvan

Wolves striker Andy Keogh believes he and strike partner Sylvan Ebanks-Blake will "tear teams apart" this Championship season. The Republic of Ireland international, 22, scored the winner against local rivals Walsall on Tuesday to open his pre-season account and has impressed manager Mick McCarthy with his displays in the last 18 months at Molineux.

He told the Express and Star: "We can play good football and, especially on good pitches where the ball moves quickly, we know we can do damage to teams. But it's not all about getting the ball forward quickly. If you play good quality football up front and get balls in the box, you can tear teams apart.

"There isn't a problem with gelling because we know how each other play. It's a case of getting the quality of balls in to us and we will do the rest."

Keogh scored 11 times last year, and though his manager his publicly appreciated his work-rate, the striker wants to continue scoring to keep his place ahead of summer signings Sam Vokes and Chris Iwelumo.

He said: "I got 11 last season. I'm hoping to get that again and then get a few more. We've got two new boys up front so competition is always good, because you always want fresh legs to come along."
