Maynard joins Robins in record deal

Bristol City have completed the signing of striker Nicky Maynard from League One side Crewe for a club-record £2.25million fee.The 21-year-old, who had scored 35 goals in 57 starts for the Alex, has penned a four-year contract with the Robins.

Maynard, who is expected to make his debut in the friendly against Royal Antwerp on Friday, is City's second signing of the summer following the arrival of midfielder Gavin Williams from Ipswich.

  1. 2.25 MILLION!!!! How the hell is he worth that much??? Considering Manchester Uniteds' Lois Saha is reportedly worth 2 million.
    Well done to Crewe though, for selling him for so much.
