Steven Thomson believes Brighton boss Micky Adams will adopt an attacking style next season and hopefully help him boost his own goals tally. The 30-year-old midfielder failed to score in 20 appearances for the Seagulls last season after joining from Falkirk in January.
But Thomson, who has scored 13 goals in his 10-year career, has been granted greater freedom by new manager Adams during pre-season.
Thomson told the club's official website: "Last season Dean Wilkins wanted me to sit where as Micky Adams has said to me he wants me to get into the box more because I have a good engine.
"I like to keep fit so I think I can get in the box more and hopefully I can get on the end of crosses and score a few goals.
"Micky Adams wants to play attacking football which is good for the boys and he wants plenty of crosses in the box. He wants to play high tempo football and get the ball wide and get crosses in the box."
