Warnock not worried about wantaway

Thu 31 Jul, 01:45 PM

Wantaway midfielder Ben Watson will not play for Crystal Palace while his future remains uncertain, boss Neil Warnock has confirmed. The former England Under-21 international is being pursued by QPR and Birmingham after rejecting a contract that would have made him the highest paid player at Selhurst Park.

The 22-year-old has not featured in any of Palace's pre-season friendlies and Warnock insists his absence will continue into the season.

He told the Croydon Advertiser: "Ben won't play for the club while he remains in the current situation - he has rejected our offer of a contract and as far as I know wants to leave.

"But, to be honest, it's not something I worry about."

  1. I agree. The immature egos of some palace players over the years have let both themselves and the club down, they have to live in the real world and Warnock does not suffer fools gladly.

  2. As much as I would prefer Ben to stay, Warnock is right not to play him and concentrate on the players who want to stay. Players are going to have to realise that they can't take the p**s just to suit themselves. Del.
