Former Italy international Christian Panucci has signed for promoted Serie A side Parma after his contract ran out at Roma.

"Parma announce that we have reached an agreement with Christian Panucci," the club said on their website without giving details of the contract.

The 36-year-old right-sided defender left Roma after eight years having fallen out with coach Luciano Spalletti last season.

In January he walked out on the squad ahead of a league match against his former club Genoa after he was dropped from the starting XI.

Panucci later apologised and withdrew a transfer request but was expected to leave the club in the summer.

He previously played for Internazionale, Real Madrid, Chelsea and Monaco and has 57 caps for Italy in an international career that spanned 14 years.
