World road champion Alessandro Ballan has quit Lampre and is poised to sign for BMC, despite the American team not featuring on the main Pro Tour.
"I've decided to change teams. I want to go abroad to learn English and see the world," he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
"It's true BMC is not a Pro Tour team... but you need good riders and the invites will come."
Italy's Ballan won the world title in Varese last year but has been hampered by a virus this term which has cut his chances of defending his crown in Switzerland's Mendrisio next month.

i guess he cold have figured that BMC was stronger than Lampre?
maybe he wanted to be a bigger fish in a smaller pond?
boy...no idea...i guess if he's happy, then ok......but strikes me as odd.....
i m sure BMC will have wildcard for the grand tours and the classic ...so dont worry
does this will make his career go down,,this will be,,racing for BMC,what does he thought about,,wondering why he did not transfer to another pro tour team as it will secure his career,,
Good career move? or good money offer?
