Bent joins Boro

Middlesbrough have signed striker Marcus Bent on a two-month emergency loan deal from Birmingham.

Bent has yet to feature for the Blues this season having been kept on the sidelines due to a recurring hamstring injury.

And Birmingham manager Alex McLeish is hoping that both the club and player benefit from the loan, telling the club's official website: "Going up there for two months is an opportunity for him."

He added: "When it's time for him to come back he'll hopefully be in great form and pushing for a place in the team.

"He's obviously had one or two setbacks with injuries, but he's a big, strong centre forward with pace, presence and when he's on top form he's an asset."

  4. I think the Boro need more than "Bent" to get­ their season straightened out we could do with Ronaldo,­ Gerrard,Rooney and the Brazilian 1st eleven but more­ than anything else Strachan must go, what has he ever­ done for Middlesbrough he has been here a week and we­ havnt won a match yet!

    Disgusted with McCleish for letting top quality player­ out on loan, especially one as consistent as Marcus­ Bent. Only joking!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    He'll have my vote­ on Sunday for man of the match.
    His only redeeming­ feature is that he's not Marlon King.
    Good luck in­ your loan spell at Boro Marcus. I hope you can get a­ permanent deal cause you won't be welcomed back at­ St Andrews. You are the worst player ever to wear the­ shirt and beleive me, we have had some rubbish here.
