Bulls pile on the misery for Darlo

Hereford picked their fourth league win of the season to send bottom of the table Darlington crashing to the 12th defeat of the campaign as they emerged 2-1 victors.

Two goals in six minutes from full-back Keith Lowe - in the 41st minute - and central defender Darren Jones six minutes later secured the win.

Striker James Collins pulled one back for the Quakers in the 72nd minute but Hereford held firm to hang on to the three points.

Hereford missed two early openings when striker Craig King and winger Mark Marshall failed to find the target from close range.

King drilled the ball inches wide from 12 yards while Marshall scuffed his shot with only goalkeeper Nick Liversedge to beat.

Darlington's Simon Thomas also missed a good opening to put the Quakers in front but he volleyed the ball over the top after a cross by Jeff Smith.

Hereford's dominance eventually paid off in the 41st minute when Lowe rifled the ball into the back of the net from eight yards.

Hereford went further in front two minutes into the second half when striker Mathieu Manset headed a cross from Ryan Valentine on to Jones, who beat goalkeeper Liversedge with a close-range drive.

The Bulls had further chances but were stunned when Collins rifled the ball into the net to give Darlington a chance of fighting back.

But Hereford held firm and went on to record their fourth league win of the campaign.
