Hibs maintained the pressure on the Old Firm at the top of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League as two late goals secured with a 2-0 win over nine-man Aberdeen.
Given half an hour to secure the victory after second-half red cards for Dons duo Maurice Ross and Chris Maguire, John Hughes' men looked unable to break the stalemate at Easter Road.
Ross caught Ian Murray late and was shown a second yellow card and Maguire, wha had also been already booked, saw a straight red card for a late lunge on Kevin McBride.
But substitute Colin Nish finally broke the resistance in the 88th minute with a fine header.
And Liam Miller doubled the tally in injury time with a deflected shot to send Hibs above Rangers and into second spot, at least until Sunday.
