Gillingham boss Mark Stimson is delighted Southend striker Lee Barnard is suspended for their FA Cup clash after he condemned them to a 1-0 defeat.
Barnard bagged an injury-time winner against the Gills, who saw a John Nutter free-kick ruled out for shirt-pulling.
However, League One`s top scorer is suspended for their encounter next Saturday and Stimson knows that can only be to the Gills' advantage.
He said: "That is good news for us, but what we must do is put in the same amount of effort as we did here and show a bit more quality in the final third.
"It was disappointing to see the goal ruled out for shirt-pulling and the indirect free-kick from six yards needed someone with a cool head and a bit of quality, rather than smashing it.
"Overall it was a frustrating evening because I think we had done enough to get a draw."
