Ipswich manager Roy Keane has been rebuffed in his attempts to appoint Peter Taylor to his coaching staff.
The former Leicester and Hull manager held talks with Keane earlier in the week, but a deal could not be agreed between all parties.
Taylor, who recently left his position as Wycombe manager, told The Sun: "We couldn't come to an agreement and it's best for all parties just to leave it at that."
In a statement, Ipswich confirmed that Taylor would be not be joining them.
"Senior management staff at the club and Mr Taylor held discussions over a possible role in support of the coaching team.
"However, there will be no further progression of those talks."
