David Wright's second-half header saw Ipswich defeat Derby 1-0 and finally claim victory in the Coca-Cola Championship for the first time this season.
Roy Keane's side went into the game with the unwanted stigma of being the only club in the Football League yet to win, but at the 15th time of asking that monkey is now off their back.
The goal came after 66 minutes from Liam Rosenior's cross on the right-hand side. Left-back Wright had gambled at the far post and was rewarded with a free header that he powered past Stephen Bywater.
Ipswich have had a knack of conceding late goals this season and another tense finale could have been avoided had Alex Bruce converted any of the three headed chances he had, or if substitute Tamas Priskin had not seen his shot saved by Bywater when one-on-one with the Derby keeper late on.
However, the result was not enough to lift Keane's side off the bottom of the table, while Derby's dismal away form now means they are without a win on their travels in 15 matches.
