Clarke back in Owls plans

Mon 31 Dec, 04:45 PM

Sheffield Wednesday have put Leon Clarke's proposed transfer to Southend on hold and added the striker to their squad for the visit of Preston.Clarke's successful loan spell at Roots Hall has come to an end, and he was widely expected to complete a permanant switch to the League One side.

But Owls boss Brian Laws told the club's official website: "Leon Clarke is back with us. A deal has not gone through at the moment and there is a doubt that it will go through.

"At this moment in time he is still a Sheffield Wednesday player so he has got to come into the equation. As it stands, he will be available to us against Preston and in the FA Cup at Derby.

"We will have a look at him and see if he is mentally ready for it because he has had a bit of a torrid time since he has been here, the fans haven't taken to him and he knows that, so I have to take that into consideration."
