DAY 12 IN A NUTSHELL
Reality check: After Britain spent a week going medal crazy, this was our first day without a gold since last Tuesday, and our first without a medal since the opening Saturday. There were no particularly acute disappointments - just the realisation that life after rowing and cycling may not be quite as spectacular. On the upside, boxer Nicola Adams guaranteed at least a silver, while the women's 470 sailing crew can also finish no worse than second.
LEADING BRITS IN ACTION
Great Britain and New Zealand are in a straight fight for gold in the final women's 470 race, but the women's Elliott crew lost out to Russia in the quarter-finals.
Nicola Adams is guaranteed at least a silver after qualifying for the women's boxing flyweight final. However, Tom Stalker lost his men's light-welterweight quarter-final 23-22 to Mongolia's Munkh-Erdene Uranchimeg.
Great Britain's women's hockey team suffered an agonising 2-1 defeat to Argentina in their semi-final. GB will now play New Zealand for bronze.
Lawrence Clarke finished just out of the medals, coming fourth in the 100m hurdles final. Shara Proctor came ninth in the women's long jump final.
Mo Farah qualified for the 5000m final, Christian Malcolm did not reach the 200m final and Daniel Awde pulled out of the decathlon injured.
Steven Lewis reached the men's pole vault final, and Sophie Hitchon made it to the women's hammer final.
Lisa Dobriskey and Laura Weightman qualified for the women's 1500m final but Hannah England is out. Lynsey Sharp negotiated the first round of the women's 800m
Tim Brabants finished eighth in the K1 canoe sprint final, Great Britain finished fifth in the women's K4 final.
Nick Skelton, Ben Maher and Scott Brash finished out of the medals in the equestrian individual jumping event.
Shanaze Reade will be seeded fifth for the women's BMX; Liam Phillips was 12th in the men's BMX seeding run.
Stacie Powell and Monique Gladding narrowly missed out on the women's 10m platform diving final - both are reserves if any of the qualifiers drop out.
MISTY-EYED
Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh beat Jennifer Kessy and April Ross to win an all-American Olympic beach volleyball final. It was the pair's third consecutive Olympic gold, and May-Treanor retired at the end of tonight's match.
HOT TO TROTT
Laura Trott celebrated her second gold medal with an evening at the beach volleyball with Prince Harry. Is love in the air? Probably not - just out of shot to the left is Jason Kenny. Also, Harry's a taken man.
GOOD DAY
Ireland: Cian O'Connor secured the country's first medal of London 2012 with bronze in the individual show jumping. He won a medal at Athens 2004, only to lose it when his horse failed a doping test. Also in the medals, boxing sensation Katie Taylor who reached the lightweight final.
BAD DAY
South Korea's Lee Daehoon, whose defeat to Spain's Jose Gonzalez in the taekwondo -58kg category included this low blow.
