Arsene Wenger

Arsenal’s values make us great

Arsene WengerArsenal recently celebrated its 125th birthday, and it's a club with values that allow the team to go on and on: great management, tradition and courage.

This club always based its evolution on simplicity, and I will always be thankful with the club for integrating me here.

I think that in a foreign country you have to adapt yourself to the culture of the club. Then, you can bring your own philosophy and vision in the club.

I managed to adapt myself to the strengths of the club: its values, its class. I tried to respect that, and I think I have done.

To mark the occasion we unveiled statues of three Arsenal legends - Herbert Chapman, Tony Adams and Thierry Henry.

I like this aspect of the English culture which is to honour great people. The career of a football player depends on 90 per cent on the club where they play.

They always know that after they leave the club or after the end of their career

We can look forward to an exciting year in the Champions League last 16.

There is less leeway between the Premier League and the rest of the Europe than two years ago. We can see it in the English teams' games. Today, it is harder for English clubs.

Real Madrid are the big favourites. After that, there are Arsenal, Chelsea and Bayern Munich.

Chelsea and us almost won the Champions League title a few years ago. We went from the Group stage to the knock-out stage, so anything could happen.

We are both against Italian opponents, and I think their football is enjoying a renaissance.

Italy is a football culture, a football tradition. I am glad that Napoli came back to prominence.

We know AC Milan - they are a club whose financial assets mean they are always able to get through tough times.

With respect to you Mr. wenger.I think so called small clubs don't play with passion and bigheart when they are up against So-called big club in any league of the world due to Propraganda about their past glory.
I think any one these small team can cause upset if they only focus in the game, they do also can field 11 player.Swansea beating you and Arsenal Nearing outclassing Barcelona in Tiki taka Last Season.
May you invest little more mentally prepared player in your squad.Lion commanding Sheeps make a group "Pride".

    Celestine. Kent.
During the struggles period this season when Arsenal was in the 12th position on the league table, I did predict that they will be among the first six. It is interesting to see them 5th today. I can still see them on 3rd or 4th position by the en d of the season. Thanks to Arsene Wenger for his hardwork and patience. He's looking progressively refrehened as the club continues to fight its way upwards.

Arsene Wenger needs to buy quality players in all departments of the game,

I agree that Wenger has done great things with Arsenal's limited financial resources, but now the money is available so why not spend some. Saying that I leave it to the great man himself to decide. (but I hope he spends, cos if does and we get 2/3 top quality player the likes of RVP, Vermealen, Song, we would not only be a great force in England but also in Europe)

u couldnt have said it any better. in the last 5 seasons, arsenal have been less than £20m away from winning every trophy before it. there is no better way to win trophies than spend money on quality players especially when you lose quality like cesc n nasri

Am sure Barca was mistakingly omitted. They are strong favourites just like Real Madrid.

Arsenal has been highly maligned for not winning trophies in recent times, but the club is not in debt and as a going concern, very much in business. Barcelona didn't just get it right, it has been years of gestation through different coaches but the principles have always been same; beautiful football through club's feeder team. I would love to see more of Park and chamberlain in action.I also think wenger should introduce a decoy player for RVP. He needs a player who can take attention away from him. Has anyone thought of the effect of RVP absence on the team?

The notion of an RVP injury is too horrid to imagine. Thus every Gooner who wants to remain sane has banished the idea to the deeper recesses of the subconscious. Bring it up at your peril!

Arsene Wenger has completely lost the plot. Football has evolved past when you depended on luck and mediocre players like Arshavin, Walcott, Ramsey, Djourou, Scilachy, Chamack........ the whole team sucks! I will dance naked on the street if they make the top four this season.

reading that, it seemed like there were bits missing from each paragraph .... like someone couldnt be bothered to take down everything that was said, the name barcelona being an example, because I cant believe that arsen wenger would forget about them when naming his favourites to win the champions league

I said at the beginning of the season that Arsenal needs to do something revolutionary. If this is the way to go then their football is dead and should be burried
    • Olango 3 months ago
And AW is to blame for it all. I am no professional coach but I could count the number of pros in that team, Sccezny, Varmaleen, Song and Van Persie. The rest are just joyriders and should be sent packing

Well done Mr Wenger, I like your attitude, we'll keep on Gunning to the end!

Er ... I wish Barca would fail to win the Champions' League, but Arsene, didn't you forget them in your list of "Real Madrid are the big favourites. After that, there are Arsenal, Chelsea and Bayern Munich."??? Barcelona is going to be there or about come May.

...I think he was referring to the challengers
    • Eliot 5 months ago
LOL, Jessiah. Either that, or he meant Arsenal are going to knock them out

      Barca are not unbeatable.

Btw Prof, I was thinking of this... Our next match is against Wolves so why not allow the likes of Benayoun, Park, Chamberlain and Arshavin to have a go? With all due respect, all of these guys can make it into the Wolves' starting 11 so why not give them more playing time to improve their game? The Champions League clash less than 2 months away and if any of our regular starting 11 gets injured, 1 of these guys are gonna have to hit the ground running.

    Just a thought.

As a Manchester City supporter I would like Arsenal to win the Champions League it reinstates that the Premiership isn't second rate to the Spanish League. Arsenal are an excellent team built on slow building and good management. Which is a better way than the City approach. When the money has gone will City be there no I don't think so but Arsenal will still be up there with United. Gone are the days of boring Arsenal thanks to Wenger they are now a pleasure to watch and some good English and European Players have been developed, ask any Bolton fan they like loaning from Arsenal. As long as they come second in the league behind City I will be happy. Good Luck in the Champions League.

Half A Brain, of course we're GREAT. We are IN the knock-out stages unlike Man6hester Un1ted - the team that failed HORRIBLY even after being placed in the easiest group. Also, if we weren't great, you wouldn't be on this page...
