European Ryder Cup captain Jose Maria Olazabal unveiled his team's golf bags for the biennial competition this week
This is a tournament tradition that usually doesn't warrant much fanfare: after all, we're talking about a golf bag with the word 'Europe' plastered on the side and the Ryder Cup logo on the front. Pretty basic stuff.
But this year's Ryder Cup unveiling was special for one particular reason: Europe's bag has a silhouette of the late Seve Ballesteros - who passed away last year - on the front, doing his iconic fist pump after he holed the winning putt at the 1984 Open Championship.
"He has meant a lot to me and to the team, and I wanted to have something that was present for each and every player," Olazabal said.
"We come up with the idea that it would be nice to have Seve's silhouette, and so every time somebody gets to grab a club or something from the bag, they can see the silhouette.
"I thought it was important for us to have Seve's memory and presence during this week."
Ballesteros, who will always be remembered for his swashbuckling play on the course, made a name for himself at the Ryder Cup, going 20-12-5 in eight appearances while helping Europe win three of them.
If ever there was a player who deserved to be put on the bag, it would certainly be Ballesteros. He was one of the all-time greats and had a knack for producing in big moments. With the exception of maybe Nick Faldo, he is without question one of the greatest 'Ryder Cuppers' to ever grace the big stage.
