Fantasy Golf: Phil your boots

The US Tour heads to LA LA land this weekend for the Northern Trust Open at Riviera Country Club, as your chance to win a superb golf holiday in Ireland hots up.

Last week at Torrey Pines Phil Mickelson was the consensus pick of the experts but only ended up finishing a disappointing 19th.

However, if there was ever a week to keep faith with Lefty, then this is the week - because the world number two has won this event the last two years and finished second the year before that.

The best alternative in the A group looks to be Steve Stricker who has looked solid in the early stages of the season and finished second here last year.

Padraig Harrington makes his 2010 debut this week and the classy Irishman leads our B Group ahead of the in-form Charles Howell III - the last person to win this event not named Phil Mickelson. Australians Robert Allenby and Adam Scott are our alternatives.

Finally, we have gone for Mike Weir in the C Group, as indeed have all the experts, and it is no secret why. Like Mickelson he is a twice winner of this event and had a decent debut performance this season at the recent Bob Hope classic, where he finished sixth. Brandt Snedeker - who has started the season T10, T2 - is our C reserve.
