Golf buddies hit hole-in-ones on same hole

2408_GolfBuddies_blogTwo veteran golfing buddies were left stunned when they both scored hole-in-ones on the same tee.

Robert Kynaston, 67, was delighted as he watched his ball land straight in the hole at the 150-yard par-three second hole at The Players Club in Bristol.

However, he was gobsmacked when his playing partner Derek Woodward, 66, stepped up and repeated the trick.

The odds of the two players scoring hole-in-ones off the same tee back-to-back is believed to be 17 million to one.

"We were gobsmacked on the tee," Robert is quoted as saying in the Daily Mirror.

"It was just so unbelievable and I've never heard of anyone doing it before.

"I'm very lucky, but like the saying goes: If you can't be good, be lucky."

Derek was similarly in shock after the event: "We just couldn't believe it, as you can imagine, because it's just absolutely unbelievable," he said.

"It's only my second hole-in-one. They're coming more regularly — once every 30 years."

A spokesperson for bookmakers William Hill said that they wouldn't even bother quoting a price on something like that usually as the idea is so fanciful.

"The chances of two amateurs hitting a hole-in-one consequentially are very low — it's near impossible.

"We'd be surprised to even see it in a professional round."
