Foreign view: How do you say ‘Xerez’?

    With Ligue 1
still on its winter break and Serie A in action as we write on Wednesday, we focus on La
    Liga.

    Basement
dwellers Xerez don't score many. In
fact, they usually don't score any.
They have found the net in just four of their 16 Liga matches so far this term,
    and face Valencia
    this weekend.

So it's a great time to stock up on bargain defenders for
Los Che. Last weekend, they went with the quartet of Miguel (4.65), Alexis (2.33), Bruno (4.11) and David Navarro (1.54).

    It could be
clean sheets ahoy for them, along with the slightly more expensive goalkeeper Cesar
    Sanchez
    (12.24).

    Real Zaragoza own the division's
worst defensive record, with 35 goals conceded in 16 games.

    Which means it
could be a rare opportunity to pick an Espanyol striker. Luis Garcia (11.69)
has done his best Emile Heskey impression this season, finding the net just
    once.

    He will never
have a better opportunity to add to his tally than this weekend.

    Having teased
a return last weekend, Barcelona's Andres Iniesta (10.78) really will be back after playing
in the Copa del Rey on Tuesday.

    The pasty
little maestro will understandably have plenty of buyers, but just be aware he
has clocked up a pedestrian two assists and no goals in 13 appearances so far
    this term.

    Real Madrid are inconsistent,
but usually turn it on at home. Mallorca are
better than you think, but it is still worth punting on the surprisingly
    affordable Xabi Alonso (6.41).

    Improving Malaga are unbeaten in
five despite lying in the relegation zone, and face Athletic Bilbao this
    weekend.

    Duda (19.87)
is their main man, but you might fancy Xavi Torres (6.53) as a more affordable
    option.

    About Fantasy Football

The Fantasist is an expert, no, a guru, in all things Fantasy Football. It will dispense its wisdom throughout the season, unravelling the great mysteries of our time. Conundrums like "Aaron Hughes or Stephen Warnock?' and 'Where does Matty Taylor get all those points from?' During the barren summer months, The Fantasist satisfies its gaming needs by losing a small fortune at its local bingo hall. Consequently, it has a lot riding on Eurosport-Yahoo!'s £5 entry, winner-takes-all office league this season.
